CITY TAXES IN GERMANY
Increasing numbers of German municipalities are following the example of cities around the world by imposing an accommodation tax on visitors who stay in the city for personal reasons. The courts have repeatedly ruled that accommodation for business purposes is completely exempt from such taxes.
That means business travellers can save up to 7.5 percent on the cost of accommodation – depending on the city. As a business traveller you can secure an exemption from such taxes - sometimes just by issueing the invoice to your employer, sometimes an official document has to be filled in.
